Did you know that cacao is also seen as a natural aphrodisiac due the formation of phenethylamine in the body? Large doses of this compound are said to be released into the brain when we are attracted to someone.



Raw cacao is an absolute favourite ingredient in the Kitchen. The rich polyphenols in cacao are guaranteed to reduce your anxiety and put your mind at rest.



These Truffles provide a nutty to sweet taste which literally melt in your mouth!



For 6-8 Truffles


  • Ground almond: 1 cup
  • Raw cacao powder: 1/2 cup
  • Raw carob powder: 1 tbsp
  • Dates: 12 (seeds removed)
  • Vanilla extract: 1 tsp
  • Almond extract: 1 tsp
  • Sea salt: a pinch
  • Pecans: 1/4 cup
  • Coconut oil (melted): 3 tbsp (add gradually)



Tempered shell (Double boiler method)

  • Cacao butter: 3 tbsp
  • Cacao powder: 1 tbsp
  • Maple syrup: 1 tbsp




  • Sprinkled raw cacao powder




To temper accurately use a double boiler method and continuously stir the ingredients between 30 – 34 degrees Celsius until the mixture becomes glossy and starts to thicken (generally 5-10 minutes). Then take off the heat and continue to stir for another 2-3 minutes – a temperature gun or thermometer is recommended for accuracy and if you want to ensure the chocolate is raw.
