This Apple Pie recipe is perfect for those long cold winter nights.

 

 

The crust provides a sweet to savory taste. Whilst the filling is filled with warm spices which transport you to a tropical setting.

 

This pie is also bursting with nutrition and will help elevate symptoms of flu: one teaspoon of cinnamon provides an amazing 22 percent of the daily recommended value in manganese which is a cofactor with the antioxidant superoxide dismutase that helps eradicate harmful free radicals that cause cellular damage.

Blend in a food processor (Crust)

  • Almond flour: 3 cups
  • Tapioca flour: 1 cup
  • Baking powder: 1 tsp
  • Cream of tartar: 1 tsp
  • Himalayan salt: 1 tsp
  • Coconut blossom nectar: 3-4 tbsp
  • Coconut oil: 10 tbsp
  • Nut milk of choice: 1/2 cup (pour gradually until dough like mixture forms)

 

Mix in a large bowl (Filling)

  • Sweet to tart apples: 1.5kg (1/4” slices)
  • Fresh ginger: 3 thumb pieces (grated)
  • Nutmeg: 1 tsp
  • Cinnamon: 2 tsp
  • Mixed spice: 1 tsp
  • Lemon (juice): 2-3 tbsp
  • Vanilla extract: 1 tsp
  • Coconut blossom nectar: 6-8 tbsp
  • Coconut oil: 4-5 tbsp
